Museum of Arts and Sciences

Curator of Education


The Museum of Arts and Sciences, a nationally accredited multi-disciplinary museum in Macon, Georgia, seeks an innovative and experienced professional to lead its education department and programs. The Curator of Education will develop comprehensive curriculum-supporting programs for pK-12 as well as enrichment programs for general audiences. The successful candidate will be a generalist capable of performing a variety of roles including cultivating dynamic partnerships with statewide school districts, educators, scholars, and academic organizations; developing and delivering STE+aM programs; working closely with art and science curators to create hands-on and immersive trans-disciplinary exhibits; coordinating virtual, onsite and outreach experiences for school groups; plus managing youth volunteers and docents. The Curator will play an integral role in planning the Museum's program and exhibition schedule and influencing the development of the Museum's Collections.

Three to five years' experience in early childhood and/or middle grades education, Georgia Performance Standards, STE+aM program development, and teaching in a museum setting preferred. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor of Art or Science in education, history, museum studies, or similar field; Master's preferred. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
