Cherokee County Historical Society

Communications Assistant (Part time)


The Communications Assistant works in partnership with the Program Manager and the Executive Director to operate the Cherokee County History Museum and the Cherokee County Historical Society. She/he collaborates on the comprehensive marketing plan including all social media, brand management, and content creation. She/he will also be called upon to work during special events. The assistant will also oversee the regular stocking/maintenance and care of the Canton Visitor Center in the Cherokee County History Museum. She/he will assist with the creation of temporary exhibits and collection management.

In addition the assistant will handle all information requests from the public as well as incoming memberships and donations. Lastly this position requires that the assistant work in the museum every Saturday from 9:45–3:00pm (non-negotiable.)

Essential Duties:

The preferred candidate will be outgoing and professional with the ability to speak comfortably with the general public. She/he must have a passion for public history and be detail-oriented. B.A. or B.A. in progress preferred.
